Brewery District Design Concepts

What happens when you take a group of University of Idaho architecture students and toss them into Tacoma’s Brewery District as part of a class assignment?? Well with any luck nobody’s car gets broken into and you end up with some very interesting concepts and fresh ideas for an urban design or adaptive reuse project. Here are some details about a public meeting where you can see what they’ve come up with.
Save the Date!
When: Wednesday, December 6, 6 pm
Where: Whitman Elementary, 1120 S 39th St
What: University of Idaho architecture and design students will present design concepts for the Lincoln Business District and portions of the Brewery District.
Summary: This fall, senior architecture students at the University of Idaho traveled to Tacoma to work on design projects as a component of a studio class. After touring Tacoma, the Lincoln District and Brewery District were selected for their historic character and potential for neighborhood visioning, urban design, urban infill, or adaptive reuse projects. The students will present their concepts at a public meeting on Wednesday, December 6 at 6 pm. All interested members of the public, City officials, neighborhood residents, business owners, and Neighborhood Council members are invited to attend. It is hoped that these concepts will spark conversation about the future direction of Tacoma neighborhoods.
